May 6, 2007 – Short Travel Day to Bowling Green

Since we only had to travel 20 miles today, we took our time this morning getting ready to go. Our neighbor, Sharon, stopped over for a visit. She was taking her cat for a walk around the campground. It looked so different with the cat on the leash and he just followed along.

We arrived at Camping World late morning. The person who built Camping World dedicated about 10 sites for free camping (with electric). We did do some shopping in the store and then did the usual maintenance that you would have around your home – cleaning, laundry, fixed things, etc. We also found a couple free Wi-fi sites so hopefully tomorrow while we are getting the MH fixed, I will upload, get my mail, etc. For those of you following the blog, I will upload from 5/2-6/07. Also to our friends and family following, feel free to share the site to others whose email address we did not have.

We ended the day by going out for dinner for our anniversary – tomorrow – 19 years.

We have now been on the road for 9 days and we are doing well. I am in internet withdrawal, of course, but being able to talk to friends and family via cell phone has been great. Andy has also been able to connect via IRLP/Ham Radio to talk with friends. It is strange not hearing the news every day but we are getting use to it.

We will be heading to Iowa next via Indiana and Illinois. We just heard about the tornado in Kansas so we will need to keep more alert of our surroundings as we head to the Central Plains.

We have been asked how Elliot, our cat, has been enjoying his vacation. When we travel, he hides. When we are parked, this is what he does best:
