December 7, 2008 – Graceland

Graceland and Elvis – what more can I say!!

We took the Platinum tour which included the Graceland Mansion, the Lisa Marie and Hound Dog II Jets, Elvis Automobile Museum, Private Presley Exhibit (about his 2 years in the Army), and the Sincerely Elvis: Elvis Jumpsuit Exhibit.

It was awesome and I would do it again. There was Elvis music and videos of his performances and interviews all thru the museums.

Elvis truly changed the world of music!

We spent the rest of the day just chilling out. We have decided to move tomorrow. We have had a couple days of the cities and now we are looking to do some back roads and small towns as we head towards Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas (and maybe get some diamonds -:-))

December 6, 2008 – Memphis and Beale Street

Our travels today took us thru western Tennessee to Memphis. We arrived mid-afternoon and are camped at the Elvis Presley RV Park – about one half mile from Graceland.

One of the places we also wanted to see in Memphis was Beale Street. When we arrived, the sun had set and the street was neon lit – almost like Las Vegas but on a smaller scale. So we walked the 3 blocks, had great ribs in Blues City Cafe, stopped in Wet Willie’s to hear a band and in the Superior Restaurant to hear another artist. What a great time.

Tomorrow we hope to see the famous Graceland.
