I just love saying that – staying at the Dam Site near Okay, OK – LOL.

Our campsite is above and it faces the Grand Neosho River just after the dam – will get more pictures tomorrow.  This is a really nice little Army COE campground at $9.00 a night with water and electric.

We were told to watch out for the deer, raccoons, coyotes, and armadillo.   And we did see an armadillo running around – here he is:

And this evening we enjoyed another great campfire!

September 17-18, 2011 Rain, Throwed Rolls and the Kitties

Rain, Rain, Rain, Thunder, Lightning, Thunder, Rain, and more rain.

Oh my – that is what our past two days have been.

There is a little river at the end of the campground that we have been watching get higher and higher.  So on Sunday (when the rain stopped for a short time), I got out to take some pictures:

  09-18-11 Turkey Creek 005

09-18-11 Turkey Creek 008

09-18-11 Turkey Creek 010

WOW, was it flowing.   This is the same river that we kayaked in the spring of 2010.  We had hoped to do it again but not in this weather.

Here is our site:

09-18-11 Turkey Creek 004

There is a lot to see and do in this area, however, we spent most of the time getting caught up around the motorhome .  Oh well.

Saturday night we (Andy, Bruce, Sue, and I) went to Lamberts Cafe – home of the Throwed Rolls – in Ozark, MO and had a great time.  We were at a Lamberts in Foley, Alabama last March and just enjoyed the entertainment.   See they come around and if you want a roll, they throw it to you – what a hoot!    It was a nice break from the dreary day.

And on Sunday, we all figured out where we are headed next so stay tuned – :-))).

The kitties have been waking me up very early the past two mornings – on Saturday it was 4:30 AM and on Sunday it was 5:30 AM.  Yikees.  They were running back and forth and playing and then fighting and then running over me.  Then by midmorning, they were sleeping with each other:

AWWWWW – are they just the cutest?

Tomorrow we are heading to Oklahoma, actually Okay, OK to the Dam Site – so stay tuned.

May 2-4, 2010 – More Branson, Missouri

Sunday’s Road Trip

Today our travels took us to Table Rock Dam Area.   First we visited the Fish Hatchery and Visitor Center below the dam:

05-02-10 Table Rock Dam Area 002

How about the size of this fish – WOW:

05-02-10 Table Rock Dam Area 008

From there we stopped at the Corp of Engineer’s Visitor Center at the top of the dam:

05-02-10 Table Rock Dam Area 010

05-02-10 Table Rock Dam Area 017

05-02-10 Table Rock Dam Area 019

And the White River after the Dam:

05-02-10 Table Rock Dam Area 024

05-02-10 Table Rock Dam Area 027

Very interesting.   This lake is one of the largest in Missouri and it extends for quite a few miles.   There are a number of Corps campgrounds all around it and if we come back, we will check on a few of them.

The rest of the day was on and off rain and I did some shopping at Wal-Mart, then we just hung out.

Monday was an absolutely beautiful day – no rain, blue skies and sun.  So this morning, we took our Sea-Eagle kayak out and went for a paddle:

05-03-10 Turkey Creek RV Park (19)

05-03-10 Turkey Creek RV Park (21)

We paddled out to Lake Taneycomo but did not stay long because of the currents but we did see 2 blue herons – Beautiful and HUGH birds….

And this evening we went to see the show – Baldknobbers – one of the oldest shows in Branson.  Great time and highly recommended.

Tuesday, today, was another beautiful day…  I did the laundry and we both did some things around the motorhome.  Tomorrow we are heading out so stay tuned.

Our Dusty:

Where did that ball go?

Oh, too much work to get it, I think I will take a nap – :-)

April 30 – May 1, 2010 – Storms and Branson Landing

On Friday we just hung out and watched the storms in the afternoon and evening.  Our area made it thru ok – :-)).

This morning we decided to check out Historic Branson and Branson Landing.  Our first stop was the trolley ride – :-)):

 05-01-10 Branson Landing

Branson Landing – lots of shops:

05-01-10 Branson Landing (1)

And a water display:

05-01-10 Branson Landing (4)

We took a walk along the boardwalk that borders the river and found these neat flowers:

05-01-10 Branson Landing (7)

And had lunch at the neat little Irish Pub – MMMMM.

In downtown Branson, there is this HUGH 5&10 Store – so much neat stuff!!   And the memories it brought back – oh my.   (If you ever get to Branson, this is a must stop.)

More storms coming thru tonight – I hope this is it!!!

April 28-29, 2010 – Branson, Missouri

Wednesday, we headed north to Missouri and entered the Ozarks:

04-28-10 A Travel to Missouri 010

04-28-10 A Travel to Missouri 001

04-28-10 A Travel to Missouri 004

04-28-10 A Travel to Missouri 008

Beautiful scenery, isn’t it.

We are staying at the Turkey Creek RV Village (an Escapee Park) in Hollister, MO for the next week.  Here is our site:

04-29-10 Turkey Creek RV Park 007

After setting up, we took a little ride to orient ourselves and get some brochures for Branson – so much to see and do but so little time and money – LOL!!!

Miles Traveled: 238 Miles

Routes Traveled:

Arkansas: North Crystal Springs Road; US-270; US-270B; US-70B; US-270; I-30; I-430; I-40; US 65

Missouri: US-65; US-65B

Thursday, we decided to check out all of Hollister and Branson by car.  Branson reminds me of a cross between Vegas, Laughlin, and Nashville (without the casinos).  The historic downtown and Branson Landing are a few blocks long – with a couple theaters and LOTS of shopping and restaurants.   Most of the shows, however, are on the Strip – RT 76 and on the colored routes.

There are a number of streams and lakes right outside the city so we will probably check them out.  We did take a ride to the overlook:

04-29-10 Branson 001

And a walk around the park – aren’t they cute!

04-29-10 Turkey Creek RV Park 003

We will probably take in one or two of the shows and maybe even the train.  But right now, we are holding off making any plans because of the severe weather coming in Friday and Saturday.  Today we had steady 20-25 mph winds and they are talking about severe thunderstorms/rain/tornados tomorrow – Yikees!

Stay tuned!
