November 5 - 7, 2021 A Short Reset

Every once in a while we need to stop, do laundry, clean up, reorganize, etc.  And that is what we have been doing the last three days.

On Friday, we left Big Bone Lick State Park and headed south.  We arrived in Park City, Kentucky early afternoon.  Both Andy and I worked on a couple little jobs that needed to be done around the motorhome.

Miles Traveled:  183.8

Routes Traveled:

Kentucky: KY-338; KY-42; KY-338; I-75; I-71; I-265; I-65; Mammoth Cave Parkway

Saturday was spent doing laundry – there was a great place in Cave City.  Very clean but a little pricy.  When we got home, I found that one of the kitties had been sick – over the afghans and blankets.  So off to the laundry again!  While I was out, I stopped at the local Walmart – busy and all the shelves were packed.  I have not seen that in a long time.  Stopped at the gas station on the way back – $2.98 per gallon.

The rest of yesterday and today (Sunday), I spent getting caught up on bills, mail and reorganizing.

On Friday, we crossed over to Central Time and had to set the clocks back.  On Sunday, we set the clocks back another hour to standard time.  Sooo we are also getting use to a 2 hour difference.

My kitties (who do not understand time changes):

Bella – my little one that is always eating:

Some day I may do a blog on each of them.

Tomorrow we are off to Nashville for a week so stay tuned.

Enjoy today!

May 27-28, 2014 Resetting in Hanksville Utah

We left our little spot in Capitol Reef National Park and headed east to Hanksville, Utah.  It is only a 38 mile drive but the topography changes drastically because the road cuts through the Water Fold.

Isn’t that amazing! Surprised smile

We are staying at Dukes SlickRock Campground for the next two days for what we call a reset (cleaning inside and out, laundry, internet, etc.).  Usually we only do an overnight and I go crazy busy for that day.  So I decided to do it in two days – what’s the rush, right?

So the past two days we did cleaning, laundry, internet stuff – Smile, and figured out our next journey.  We had originally planned to spend a few days around Goblin State Park doing some hiking there and the slot canyons.  But I hurt my foot last week so I am kind of limited in the hiking until I heal.  Plus the weather is going to be HOT! and lastly, the slot canyon is knee deep in water (according to the BLM).  So we will keep this area on our bucket list and return another time.

Today we did check out this store:

Yes, it is built right into the rock.  It is just a small convenience store – Smile.   In 1997, Andy and I took a journey by car in this area and stayed at the motel across the street.  I really wish I had kept a journal of that trip.  (Which is why I encourage everyone to keep a travel journal of some sort – it would be fun to look back.)

Tomorrow we are off to Colorado so stay tuned and enjoy today.

Stats for Tuesday, May 27th:

Miles Traveled: 38 Miles

Routes Traveled:

Utah: SR-24

October 13-14, 2013 Reset Days in Osceola Iowa

The last two days were what we call “Reset Days”, where we cleaned the motorhome outside and inside, did laundry, and restocked supplies (plus a few other odds and ends).

On Sunday night we had dinner at the casino - Prime Rib Special - YUM!  We signed up for their players card; received $5.00 free play each and walked away with $19.00 of winnings - Smile.

We also loosely planned our travels for the next two weeks.  We will be at Blue Ox in Pender, Nebraska on Wednesday and Thursday, leaving Friday.  Initially we were going to take I-80 across NE and WY into Utah and finally Nevada.  BUT, taking a look at the temperatures - too cold for this gal.  So right now, we will head south thru Nebraska, Kansas, Texas into New Mexico.  There we will pick up US-40 across New Mexico, Arizona to Nevada.  Our main issue now is finding places that are open this late in the season so stay tuned.

Here was our site at Terrible’s Lakeside Casino RV Park:

Every time I make the bed, the kitties think it is play time.  So today I grabbed my camera and took a few shots:
