We had a nice time!!!

From there we stopped at the Elks in Fairbanks – our first visit to an Elks Lodge since Andy became a member.  It is a really nice place and I know we will be stopping by more.

And I have to add this – yes, we now have no darkness!!!!

I stopped by the visitor center earlier in the day to talk with Alexis who is the director of the center.  I had a number of questions and also volunteered to help her out with some computer work and inventory.  When I am working and there is time between visitors, it can get a little boring (I can only read and learn so much!) so I can do some other things to help out.  So I will start some of those items this weekend – :-)))

That’s it for today – hope your day went well.

July 14, 2007 – Fairbanks and Santa

We woke today to cloudy skies and rain. The person who had our spot in the campground was not leaving until noon so we made the trip to the North Pole, Alaska.
My picture with Mr. and Mrs. Claus:

And with my moose:

This is the place where the post office sends all the mail addressed to Santa. There were numerous old letters posted on the walls. Around Christmas, many local volunteers answer new letters to Santa – isn’t that neat.

You can also get letters sent to children (old and young alike). Their website is http://www.santaclaushouse.com/

Did you know that a reindeer is actually a domesticated caribou??? Me, neither…

After we got back, we moved the motorhome into the campground. I went to do the laundry and Andy rested (he has a cold). The sun broke thru and so this evening we had another great campfire!!

And tomorrow – we will be taking a trip to the Artic Circle – stay tuned!!
