May 16, 2007 – Another day in the Loess Hills

It was a beautiful morning for a hike – blue skies, very little wind and temperatures in the 50’s.

We did a 2 mile loop on the:

Badger Ridge - One of the ridges in the preserve plus some prairie remnants and farms in the valley.

Hidden Valley – lush green valley between the ridges.

The Chute – We were able to see examples of erosion and the loess soil.

Now what was really interesting to us is that the rating of “The Chute” was difficult. Maybe since there are mostly flat lands here the ratings are different but this trail was no different than a walk thru Blackwood or West West.

And the rest of the day, we relaxed and cooked over the campfire. I will leave you with pictures of our newest project – getting Elliot to walk on a leash. Or for those of you who have cats, it is Elliot taking us for a walk. As soon as we tug on the leash, he sits down and will not move. It is like trying to move a mule.
