We left early this morning and headed north to Albuquerque on I-25, past Socorro where it has really greened in the past two weeks. Spring is here:
This is a rest area on I-25. I first thought it was a kids playhouse then realized each of these “houses” are picnic shelters. Hmmm..does that mean it is windy all year – not just in April?
On the west side of ABQ, we made a stop for gas and then a stop at Camping World where we had lunch before heading west on I-40:
The topography is really changing:
We are staying at the Acoma Sky City RV Park. They have a tour package that includes an RV Site, the Sky City Tour, entrance to the museum, breakfast and lunch – can’t beat that. The park is not very full as you can see but they have all the amenities :-)).
After we set up and checked out the casino, etc. we took a ride around the area. Route 66 goes right by here:
We saw many of these ruins in the area. Hopefully I can find out more tomorrow about them.
Then we journeyed south of I-40 towards the museum and oh my, the scenery:
This is on the top of one of the mesas.
We will be be taking the tour tomorrow.
Sky City is on the mesa in the middle – can you see the homes?
More pictures tomorrow – stay tuned and enjoy today.
