This morning we woke to sunny skies so we decided to check out a couple of the forest roads. But first, here is a picture of our site:
I just LOVE National Forest Campgrounds –
Off we went…oh, oh, clouds rolling in again:
We checked out a few areas for camping for future reference and then saw a sign that said “Grand Canyon East View”. So off we went up the hill – we climbed to 9000’ :
Four miles later we found the parking lot and walked to the viewpoint – oh, my:
What a lovely drive. If we were spending more time here, we would definitely get a map and check out some of these other roads. We were told many of them lead to Grand Canyon View Points. This is still going to be on our bucket list!
We headed to the North Rim Visitor Services and saw this fellow along the way. I could not get a picture of his face – :
Coyote or Wolf?
While at the North Rim Campground Store, I downloaded our emails and checked the phone. We do not have any phone service or internet where we are camped so that is why I ended up publishing so many when we go to out next adventure.
Late afternoon, the sun was out, the wind died down, so we had a great supper cooked on the fire, then enjoyed the fire until the sun set.
We are leaving here tomorrow and heading north so stay tuned.
Enjoy today
We have enjoyed our stay here in the Kaibab National Forest and we will be back. I was not able to do any of the hikes at the North Rim – still not well, better, but not all better. So this remains on our bucket list to explore this area more.
Tomorrow we are heading to Hatch for 2 days and then to Bryce so stay tuned.

That almost looks like the same site I stayed in way back in 1988!
Is there a reason you have that robot word verification thing on? It's a real pain.
Hi Judy and Emma, It was a beautiful CG - but now over half of them are reservable.. I like first come first serve cause I never know what we are doing.
The word verification is on because I was getting LOTS of spam. For some reason, blogger was being hit big time. Anyway, I thought about shutting off the comments but decided to do the word verification first. All spam stopped since then....
