December 18, 2008 – Escapees – Touring and Dinner

This morning we took the tour of the Park where we learned the history of the Club, the Park, and the activities, including watching the rights of RVers on the political front.

The tour started in the Club House:

Then moved to the Mail Room and Headquarters:

The Escapees Mail Forwarding is the largest mail forwarding system in the state of Texas. Headquarters is upstairs where we met many of the people who work behind the scenes for the magazine, for the advocacy group, and for the Club as a whole.

From there we took the trolley around the park:

We learned about the different types of lots, volunteering, and the Care Center. We stopped at the Memorial Garden:

And met Joe Peterson (blue T-shirt):

Joe and his wife Kay started Escapees over 30 years to meet some of the needs of full and part-time RVers and it has grown exponentially.

What a wonderful tour.

This afternoon was spent doing laundry; the 4 PM social hour and then out to the Dine Out at a local Mexican restaurant (with 40 other Escapees).

We have met so many wonderful people, those working here, living here, and traveling like us. I am so glad that we are members of this great club!
