Happy Anniversary to Larry and Peg!  They treated us to a Mexican dinner done by Peg and some great Margaritas – YUM!

December 28, 2023

After doing a few things today, we were off to hunt for rocks!  Yes, rocks!  We have seen some beautiful ones throughout the desert and we wanted a few for our lot in Yuma and maybe even take some home.

At our first stop, I was able to get quite of few of the larger quartz rocks.  We think the white quartz will look pretty good next to our coal chunks –

We also did some more exploring on the American Girl Mine Road.

We could see two mine shafts here.  One in the middle of the mountain and one at the base:

There are mining claims all over this area.  Wonder if anyone gets rich.

Back on Ogilby Road, we headed to the Tumco Ghost Town.  In 2009, we did the walking tour.  This time the road was very rough going in and more of the buildings had deteriorated. We didn’t do the walk – maybe another time.

We headed back with a short stop at the historical marker:

Many mining communities here at one time.  Sadly, all gone now.
