August 20-21, 2009 – All Roads Led to Tok

We left Chicken this morning (20th) in the fog and it cleared up into a beautiful day on the top of the mountains.  We arrived in Tok at Sourdough Campground (full hookups – first time since March – Yea!!) and met up with Pennie and Dave who are also here.

As I was getting caught up on laundry, Pennie and I spent the time getting caught up with each other and our travels since we last saw each other.

After laundry was a final cleanup and then we went to supper here – Reindeer Chili in a Sourdough Bread Bowl – mmmmmmm.

The Pancake Toss was held this evening (no we didn’t win but Pennie did – Yea!):

And spent the rest of the evening with Pennie and Dave chatting – it was great to see them again and hopefully we will meet up in Q or before.

Two years ago we were at this campground and since then one of the owners, Ken, has passed away – so sad.

Stats:

Miles Traveled: 80 Miles

Routes Traveled:

Alaska: AK-5 (Taylor Highway); AK-2 (Alaska Highway); AK-1 (Tok Cutoff)

Today, 21st, was an errand day and get ready to head south.  Tomorrow we will be on our way to Haines.  Over the next few weeks we will be in and out of Canada and Alaska and relying on WI-FI.  So I will not be updating the blog as often nor answering emails quickly - please bear with us.

We did go to the Pancake Toss and Andy won – Yea!!!

Stay tuned – more adventures await.
