August 1, 2009 – Eight Months on the Road

August 1st – hard to believe!  Today we have been on the road for 8 months – WOW!! – the longest ever and still going strong.

As we were having breakfast this morning, we started to hear the water pump going continuously (and we were not running water).  Turns out it was the pop off valve on our water heater so we spent the morning looking for a valve (good RV parts store in Soldotna!).  Andy fixed it and we are okay now – :-)))

This afternoon we went to Soldotna to the famous Kenai fish walk:

And the fish were biting:

The largest king salmon on record – 97.25 pounds was caught here in 1985.  The mounted fish is on display at the Visitor Center by the fish walk and it is HUGE!!!

From there we went to the Soldotna Historical Society Museum where they had a wildlife museum and historic log village. (I am trying something new here – a copy of the info followed by the subject.)

You know, I walked in this cabin and just felt at home.  And then I thought of all my “Stuff” at home.  I think when we get home next year, there will be a BIG yard sale to really downsize.  After seeing this cabin, I feel like selling everything and either live in the RV or some type of very small place…..  :-)))

We met Pennie, Dave, Chris, Charles, and Billie for steak night at the Moose Lodge in Kenai.   And another great evening was had!!!!
