We left our cozy site early and continued on the Tok Cutoff.
We were able to see Mt. Sanford:
One thing we missed was seeing the Wrangell Mountains. On the roads we traveled yesterday, we should have had good views but they were covered in clouds – Ah well!
Another view from the Tok Cutoff Road:
We arrived in Tok and headed off to Chicken via the Taylor Highway. How about this road:
Another view:
The purple on this mountain is the fireweed – almost all bloomed:
And coming to the town of Chicken.
We are staying at the GoldPanner RV Park – more or less a parking lot but we got a discount and electric for $9.00/night – not bad. We had a little problem once we registered. We came back to the RV and it would not start – Yikees. Turned out one of the connections on the battery came loose (probably from all the bouncing on the road). Right now it is semi-fixed. When we get back to Tok, we will see if we can get parts.
Speaking of fireweed – here is what they now look like – the white fuzzy is the plant going to seed – winter won’t be much longer now. According to the Weather Channel, it is supposed to be in the 30’s at night later this week – Brrrr!! Time to head south.
Beautiful downtown Chicken:
The local attack chickens – LOL:
We walked around, dodged the raindrops and spent some time in the Saloon – :-)). Oh yes, and watched people coming off the Top of the World Highway.
