When our Dusty passed away, I decided to have him cremated. So we knew we would be back to Kingman to pick up his remains. When we got the call, we decided to leave the RV at Casa Grande, drive to Kingman, pick up his remains, stay overnight and return to Casa Grande the next day.
Thank you so much to Pam for watching our other two kitties. We really appreciated it cause otherwise I would have had to make the trip myself.
So early Monday morning, we headed north. This is near Wickenburg – what use to be empty land is now hundreds of homes:
The graffiti building – LOL!:
Check out the green desert:
Past the Joshua Tree Forest:
Lots of saguaros:
Joshua Tree with blooms:
“The Joshua tree is native to the southwestern United States (Arizona, California, Nevada, and Utah) and northwestern Mexico. This range mostly coincides with the geographical reach of the Mojave Desert, where it is considered one of the major indicator species for the desert. It occurs at elevations between 1,300 and 5,900 feet. “
“Joshua trees don’t bloom every year, but when they do it is amazing and since it’s so rare, if you get the chance to visit when they’re blooming, you’ll be one of the few people on Earth that experience it. Because of how rare a Joshua tree bloom or flowering event is, they all seem to bloom at once. This helps them pollinate each other and secure a bright future for the Joshua tree population.”
Such a treat for us to see them bloom!
Continuing thru the forest:
US-93 between Wickenburg and Kingman is just beautiful.A river flows near Wikieup – notice the green trees:
More saguaros:
Aren’t they just majestic!Rocks appear in the middle of nowhere!
Beautiful mountains and scenery along the way:
And sometimes in the middle of nowhere, there will be a home on the top of a hill.
What amazes me is that it is at least an hour drive just to get any kind of groceries…
Snow on the Colorado Plateau:
We made it to Kingman, picked up Dusty from the Animal Hospital and registered at the Arizona Inn for the night.
What a wonderful keepsake! Yes, it was emotional for me to go thru.
