On Tuesday, February 21st, we stopped at the PO to pick up our mail and then to the Powerhouse that contained the Visitor Center and Route 66 Museum.
Very impressive building:
What a creative person;
And this is what she made:
The Visitor Center and Gift Show:
From there we went to the Route 66 museum where we learned about the history of the road and Kingman. (Note: the next pictures may be hard to read on a phone. Should be better on a computer.)
(Finding portions of the Beale Wagon Road is still on my bucket list!)
Our ancestors were brave souls!:
I have written about Harvey Houses before and have visited a few of them. These were some of the rules that the Harvey Girls had to follow.
The museum was like following a time line. Once we left the 1930-1940’s area, we came to the 1950’s:
Can you see the smile on Andy’s face?
Check out the air conditioner on the passenger window:
Signs along the road:
Some of the small towns:
So sad for many of the towns along the road.
We made our way downstairs where we watched a real nice movie on Route 66 and then made our way to the Electric Car Museum. Check out some of these cars:
Check out the different chargers :
And, of course, we just had to drive thru the sign – LOL!
Isn’t he cute!
What a great day. Stay tuned for our next adventures and enjoy today!
