It has been a busy week for us and we have been having a wonderful time…. So I am going to get you caught up (the very short version with lots of pictures).
We did another road trip on the day after my birthday. Our first stop was the BLM lands around Congress. Check out the green desert:
The Congress Pioneer Cemetery:
This cemetery is said to be haunted. Here is an interesting tidbit from the internet:
“The burials in the old Pioneer Cemetery took place between 1887 and 1954. The newer cemetery has been in use since 1910. The old Congress Pioneer Cemetery was featured as a stop along the route of Cemetery Crawl 2—the popular road rally established by the MVD Ghostchasers as a way to view various types of cemeteries in Arizona. This cemetery has been a favorite with ghost hunters for recording EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomena) and for photographing amoralities of spirits among the tombstones.”
One of the old mines:
And yes, people continue to have claims and prospect for gold.
Our road trip continued from Congress to Aquila to Wickenburg and then Vulture Mine Road. What a beautiful drive. This is Vulture Peak:
The cacti in the following pictures are cholla. Every time I see them, they look like there are illuminated! But their needles come off very easily and can do some damage (to skin, clothing, etc.).
How about this camping spot! Next season I may want to spend a night or so here – :-):
And of course the flowers!! Oh my, everything is in bloom or getting ready to bloom. I am so blessed to see all of this!
The Wildflowers:
And the cacti:
This one is getting ready to pop!
Not sure if I missed this or the bloom is coming or this is the bloom!
Greenery – Is this the desert!
And the birds!!
Amazing!! We are so blessed to see this!
Last week was Bead Week. I had 11 classes from Monday to Friday and it was wonderful and intense – I learned so so much. But now I have a few projects to finish - :-))). I need to start selling some of these soon (so this hobby can be self-supporting – LOL!) I did get instructions and a kit to build a light box to photograph jewelry soooo one day I will have to put it together and take some pictures of my projects – :-)))
And I have met so many people here that I hope we meet further on down the road. We have also reconnected with friends. Wendy was parked next to us for Bead Week – she is a beader that I met in Quartzsite. Steve is back in the park and Andy spent some time looking at Saturn thru the telescope – :-))) (and doing guy stuff – LOL). And Carolyn and Pete came in on Friday for Easter before they head back to New Jersey. We met them in Casa Grande and Quartzsite and it was great to see them again and get caught up.
For Easter, Steve, Carolyn, Pete, Andy, and I (Wendy left on Saturday – :-(.) decided to have steaks on the grill – MMMMM. What a great time!!
Here we are (Steve, Carolyn, Andy and Pete):
One of the best things about this trip has been meeting some great people, staying in touch, and then seeing them again. WONDERFUL!
In one of our walks around the park, Carolyn and I found the Easter Bunny – isn’t he cute!
There is one more picture for you – this is on a billboard coming out of Wickenburg…
So our time here has come to an end. Tomorrow we are heading to Cottonwood for a week to see some of the sights there so stay tuned – :-)
