This morning we took off on the Mountain Loop Trail into the Cascades and the weather was beautiful.
Our first stop – notice the fresh snow on the mountain, the fall colors of the leaves on the trees, and the frost on the grass. This is the site of a mountain inn that opened in 1921 – isn’t this beautiful:
Our granddaughters – Krissy and Kate:
The Skagit River (and the salmon were jumping):
Beautiful!:
Diablo Lake – how about that color:
This area of the road is closed in winter because of the avalanches that come down these mountains. The pictures do not do this justice:
Winthrop, Washington – what a great place. Someday we are going to spend some time here:
The desert area of Washington – looks just like the high desert of Nevada and Arizona minus the cacti:
The sun behind the smoke – there was a forest fire in this area:
Leavenworth – another neat little town!
Another wonderful day – thank you Mike and Sandy!
