July 3rd, 2024 - Road Trip

We woke to a beautiful blue sky and Andy and I decided to do a road trip to check out the coast and the coastal mountains.

Mount Redoubt:

Both of these mountains are active volcanos and part of the Pacific Rim of Fire.

We stopped at the Iliamna Viewpoint and walked to the top of the bluff:

We made our way to Anchor Point which is North America's Most Westerly Highway Point:

We did not see any smoke or feel any earthquakes so we are good.

On top of the hill is the Holy Transfiguration of Our Lord Chapel.  It is a Russian Orthodox Church built in 1901.

Cool cemetery but it was overgrown:
