A hang out kind of day..

Our first adventure today was a visit to Prairie Dog Town.  These creatures are so cute and just make me smile.

Look at that face!:

As I got closer, he pushed her down into the burrow – what a protector:

They were everywhere in this park – not just the enclosure.

The one in the middle was “squawking” – one of their warning signs to the rest of the clan:

AWWWWW!

We stayed a while just watching their antics.  In this park, people bring food and feed them so they are use to humans.  Other areas (like near the cotton mill two days ago), they “squawked” and headed to their burrows leaving a few to watch.

We talked to a few folks at the Elks and were told that they are all over Lubbock and it is a real problem with the parks, developments, ranches and community. Sad.

From there we headed to Lubbock Lack Landmark but they were closed until 1.  So we headed back, had lunch, then I took off for the landmark – covered in Part 2.
