This morning, we woke to fog and took our time getting ready to go. We only had 80 miles to our destination plus we wanted to wait until rush hour around Jacksonville was over.
Really foggy and still lots of traffic:
Into Georgia:
Over more creeks, marshes, and swamps:
We arrived in Brunswick at the Golden Isle RV Park, a Passport America Park. We set up and since it was early, we went on a road trip.
Heading south towards the islands – cool looking bridge:
We headed over to Jekyll Island first. There is a cost to get on the island and when it was our turn to pay a gentlemen came over to the kiosk and it was paid – how great is that.
Our first stop was the Tidelands Nature Loop – one of the ponds:
The road thru the center:
Oops, road ends in water:
Coming back – we could not see if there were babies:
St Andrew’s Picnic Area:
One of the many beautiful large mansions on the Island:
The Dunes picnic area and beach – still foggy but beautiful:
The road to Clam Creek Fishing Pier:
Where we met this little fellow:
There was a walking path to the driftwood area across from the pier – one side was marshland:
The other side looked out into the bay. This was at low tide:
We ended our tour of the Island (we will be back tomorrow) and as we came off the island, the fog lifted. Here is the bridge to Brunswick – notice the difference from this morning.
We took a little tour around Brunswick and stopped at the dock areas – very interesting ship.
Back home, we relaxed and made our plans for tomorrow.
Stats:
Miles Traveled: 76 Miles
Routes Traveled:
Florida: Collins Road; I-295; I-95; US-17; SR-303
Stay tuned and enjoy today.

I had been on Jekyll Island about 25 years ago and really enjoyed it. It looks like we better get back there again sometime!
