Road Trip Day – YEA! We packed our lunches and we were on our way through the Wind River Canyon. When we came to Thermopolis we drove up thru the canyon and we wanted to go back to explore. So away we went:
Our first stop was:
Here it is – The Wind River:
The Big Horn River:
Interesting! We made a few stops in the canyon – all of it is beautiful – .
Butterflies at one of the stops:
Guess who?
Wouldn’t you just love to live in this house?:
One of our stops included the old dam site:
Notice the steps in the middle – this is the area of the old dam:
This is where the dam went across the river:
There are three car tunnels here. You can see the first one on the right. The one on the left is the train tunnel.
The new dam:
We saw a vehicle come across the dam so we decided to go for it. We able to cross the dam and go down to the river – what a nice surprise. Many of these dams are not accessible to the public anymore since 9/11.
The water was rushing out of the overflow but none was coming our of the powerhouse??”":
Boysen Lake side of the dam:
We found a really nice picnic area by the lake to have lunch:
We spent a little bit of time there watching the boaters and enjoying the cool breeze.
On our way back to the car, we saw a stairway down to the water. Check out the size of this fish:
At the bottom of the stairs:
A wildflower on the way back:
We headed back home enjoying the scenery along the way. What a wonderful road trip!
We finished the evening around a campfire with our neighbors.
Another great day. Stay tuned and enjoy today.
