September 23, 2009 – The Palisades and Mount Rainer Viewpoint

We did some more exploring on the side forest roads – just beautiful country!!  Our travels also took us a little further up Route 12 to the Palisades:

Our next stop was the Mount Rainer Viewpoint.  This mountain has over 25 named glaciers and numerous small, unnamed glaciers and ice patches – it is the most glaciated mountain in the lower 48.  A map of the area:

We came back early afternoon – Andy has got a bad cold and I think I am getting it.  So we relaxed the rest of the afternoon and had a campfire tonight with our neighbors joining us.
