We were up early and saw the sun rise – oh my – it is the SUN! So off we went east across the Mississippi:
We are officially east!
Into Illinois:
Past some cool barns and farms:
Over the Illinois River:
Past many more farms:
Thru cute towns:
While crossing Iowa and Illinois, we found that each town had their own style of homes. One town had many of this style and another had many of a 50’s one floor home. I am sure there is a story to each of these towns but it was interesting to see.
More barns:
Into Indiana:
Many Grainerys:
And always the windmills:
Even purple homes:
To match the purple flowers:
Lawns of white flowers (clover maybe?):
And trains, oh the trains:
It looks like Pennsylvania:
Our route took us to downtown Huntington – cool buildings:
South of Huntington, we stayed at the J. E. Roush Fish and Wildlife Campground. This is our site:
Trees in bloom:
And a lake too:
This is a very nice campground. It is $15.00 for an electric site and $12.00 for non so we opted for the electric. There was only four sites filled tonight. I am sure that it must be filled during prime season. (Love finding these little gems.)
Once we set up, the storm wasn’t far behind us. Lots of lightning and thunder but no hail or wind – good sign.
Tomorrow we continue our journey east so stay tuned and enjoy today.
Stats for today:
Miles Traveled: 324 Miles
Routes Traveled:
Iowa: Mount Pleasant Street; Curran Street; US-34
Illinois: US-34; I-74; US-24
Indiana: US-24; US-224
