We left Blue Mesa Reservoir this morning and headed east on US-50.
Our last look at the edge of the Reservoir:
As we traveled, we noticed water, water, everywhere – most streams were overflowing their banks:
We passed farms and ranches:
And started our slow trek up to Monarch Pass:
The road became steeper:
The snow is getting closer:
WOW- Check out our elevation:
Here we are at the top – the highest our RV has been!:
We stopped for a little while to check out the little store and museum at the top, then off we went DOWN!:
Awesome scenery, isn’t it!
We went past this mine – no signs so we were not sure what they were mining:
Beautiful Aspen trees:
The Arkansas River was running strong:
We made it to Coaldale and followed the directions for Cutty’s Hayden Creek RV Resort – an RPI Park. After a mile, the paved road became a dirt road and we thought “were the directions correct?”
But we kept on going and finally found the resort. Here is our site – a little tight but nice to be in the woods again – .
After setting up, we took a walk around and made our to Hayden Creek:
Later in the afternoon, Andy started a campfire – we cooked supper over the fire and enjoyed the rest of the evening watching the sun set, the moon rise, watching the fire:
And watching these guys come thru the park:

Tuesday morning found me doing laundry. After lunch, we went to the lodge to use their Wi-Fi – Yea! I was able to get on with my computer. So I did a little updating of my blog, some emails and then our friends, Bruce and Sue came in.
We enjoyed the rest of the day getting caught up with each other over another great campfire.
Tomorrow we are heading to Colorado Springs so stay tuned and enjoy today.
