After closing everything down and saying our goodbyes, we were on our way to the mountains.
Spring is here in the valley – beautiful flowers everywhere:
Saguaros blooming too:
And here we go up and away:
WOW and even more WOW!:
At the end of this stretch of road was the town of Globe where all the streets were lined with these beautiful flowers:
We stopped for lunch and then unhooked the car for the next leg of our journey to Show Low. We will be dropping down into the Salt River Canyon and then climbing back up the mountain in a very short distance. So to make it easier on the motorhome and on the advice of friends, we decided to unhook.
Continuing our journey (yes, I did take these while driving – ):
ELK – :
The Salt River Canyon is known as the Little Grand Canyon and it was spectacular! The highway hugs the mountains down to the bottom, crosses a bridge, then hugs the mountain back up to the top – oh my! We will be going back to take pictures – .
Coming out of the canyon:
At one place, we were stopped for construction. I opened the window and all I could smell was pine trees – lovely.
Isn’t this just beautiful:
We arrived at the Show Low Elks and were assigned a site but we just could not get level no matter what we tried. Since we were the only ones in the campground, we moved to a level site and set up – . The campground is set among the pine trees – more pictures tomorrow.

Here is our site:
And the campground – Trees - I have really missed the trees – :
This morning we made our first stop to the post office and then to the Chamber of Commerce to pick up information on the area. From there we just checked out the town and some of the surrounding areas. Our last stop was to see Ginny, one of our neighbors in Casa Grande. She is here for the summer and we wanted to check out the park for future reference.
The rest of the day we just hung out. I fell about 10 days ago on my butt/tailbone and some days are better than others. This afternoon was not one of the better days so icepacks became my friend – LOL!
Tomorrow we are doing some sightseeing so stay tuned and enjoy today.
