After lots of hugs and saying our “see you in the spring”, we started our journey west and south.
In Delaware, we went directly west from the bay – the leaves are just changing here:
Past many farms:
Into Maryland:
More farms – love this barn:
Love the trees:
Past one of the Chesapeake Marinas:
Over the Bay Bridge (I wonder how deep it is here):
Cool looking bridge:
We traveled south on US-301 through lots of traffic and malls - very busy since it is so close to Washington, DC. The route took us over the Potomac River:
Right before we went over the bridge, we were stopped by the Maryland State Police. He noticed that I was not wearing my seat belt. He was very nice and left us with a warning. (His hometown is near us.) I will be wearing my seat belt from now on!
Into Virginia:
Where Andy just LOVED this attraction:
Harvest Time:
I love these roads:
Our first views of the Shenandoah Mountains:
At the top and heading into the park:
Skyline Drive:
Here we are:
Since we have no idea how long we are staying, we found a nice site in the first come, first served loop. We have always stayed in the I loop and now we are in the C loop. I will post pictures tomorrow.
We have no phone or internet in the campground so I will be a little late in posting. Until then, enjoy today.
Stats for today:
Miles Traveled: 268 Miles
Routes Traveled:
Delaware: US-9; SR-404
Maryland: SR-404; US-50; US-301
Virginia: US-301; SR-205; SR-3; SR-20; US-15; US-33; Skyline Drive
