March 6, 2013 - Quartzsite

This morning I was up early and headed to Cactus Curlers for a haircut from Beth – she did a great job.  After a quick stop at the post office and the transfer station, I came back and we both enjoyed our coffee in the morning sunshine.

By late morning, we headed off to downtown.  I dropped Andy off at Tyson Wells – he wanted to check out some of the tool places that are still open.  I headed to Gem World and then Joyce’s crafts to pick up some supplies for beading.  Afterwards I picked up Andy and we headed to the Quartzsite Yacht Club for lunch.  Yes, they actually have a Yacht Club here – Quartzsite is quirky – I love it!

Since we didn’t have any other plans for the day, we decided to take another drive – this time we headed out Dome Rock Road.  I did not have my camera so no pictures – sorry.

We knew there was a BLM land there but was really surprised to see how much.  Lots of camping areas!

We also checked out the other side of the highway where they have the mining claims, however, we only went so far.  I have met a few people who have claims and frankly, they scare me.  So until I know someone who doesn’t scare me, I stay away.  But I am curious about it.

And we finally found Rainbow Acres – a housing development.  In the local newspaper, I would see houses or lots for sale in Rainbow Acres for a lot of money and could never figure out where it was.  Well, now I know – it is a beautiful place.

There is also some more dirt roads out that way that I would love to explore but I need to find a map first.

And back home, we started a fire, cooked supper and relaxed.
