Today we booked a 3 hour tour around Resurrection Bay and part of the Kenai Fjords National Park. This was our boat (not the Minnow with Gilligan – :-)):
The sky was beautiful at the end of the bay – check out the rings of clouds around the mountains:
But the fog hung low near the mouth of the bay where it meets the Gulf of Alaska:
On of the beautiful coves in the Kenai Fjords National Park
Some really neat rock formations and caves (with lots of birds):
Sea Lions:
And birds – we saw Kittiwakes, Cormorants, Common Murres, Puffins, and Bald Eagles:
And Mountain Goats:
There she blows – a humpback whale:
These were built and used during World War II to protect the bay since it is an ice free port:
Remnants of the supply docks for the island:
Bear Glacier – the largest glacier in the National Park:
Coming back into port – check out the cruise ship leaving:
More views coming into port:
Our motor home – the one with the flag flying proudly in front!!:
Our little sea otter to greet us:
The fishing boats were in and they were cleaning the fish so this guy was looking for an easy handout:
How about this catch!!!
What a wonderful little cruise. Two years ago we took a couple cruises to see some of the glaciers and they were all day tours. And I was a little ill on all of them. The amount of time on this one was okay for me. I started feeling ill after about 2 hours and was able to hang in there another hour. We have thought about the longer ones but I don’t think I can do it…. Oh well!!
And we continue to feel blessed!!
