September 30, 2007 – Views of the Mississippi and an Apple Fest

We woke to a beautiful fall morning and decided to take the trail to the overlooks and the waterfall in the state park.

Here is the Wisconsin River meeting with the Mississippi:

We even saw more Indian mounds within the park. It was such a beautiful morning.

After lunch, we decided to go to the Apple Fest in Gays Mill, Wisconsin (about 30 miles away). The drive took us thru the river bluffs and many orchards and farms.

Here is a picture of the Kickapoo River which runs right thru the town.

In August of this year, the river flooded the town and many people are still rebuilding so this fest was very important to them to state that they survived!!

We made it just in time for the parade:

After the parade, we walked thru the town and the craft/exhibit area. It was just great!! Andy even got a flower from one of the clowns (but then she took it back – it was so funny!!!).

We took a different route home that went along the Mississippi on the Wisconsin side. Beautiful bluffs and beautiful scenery… I just love this area!!

A huge storm came in tonight. Our NOAA radio gave a couple of alarms for counties near us for severe thunderstorms and possible tornados. We did have very heavy rain but not a lot of wind – thank God!!!
