October 31 and November 1, 2010 Pahrump, Nevada

October 31, 2010

After saying our goodbyes :-(  to Shelly and Bill, we headed north west through Arizona:

 10-31-10 A Williams to Hoover Dam 006

10-31-10 A Williams to Hoover Dam 017

10-31-10 A Williams to Hoover Dam 028

Over the new road and bridge across Hoover Dam:

10-31-10 A Williams to Hoover Dam 048

10-31-10 A Williams to Hoover Dam 051

The new bridge across Hoover Dam:

10-31-10 A Williams to Hoover Dam 067

10-31-10 A Williams to Hoover Dam 072

Hoover Dam – check out the water level – very low:

10-31-10 A Williams to Hoover Dam 068

We have never taken this route with the motor home because of the narrow and winding roads as well as security on the dam wall itself.  With the new bridge and road, all of that is avoided – very nice.  There are no pull offs along the way, however there is a ramp that goes to the dam visitor center where one could park and walk this new bridge.   Maybe we will do that someday.

We continued on into Nevada:

10-31-10 B Hoover Dam to Pahrump 004

Past Lake Mead:

10-31-10 B Hoover Dam to Pahrump 006

And past Las Vegas:

10-31-10 B Hoover Dam to Pahrump 009

Through the Red Rock Canyon area:

10-31-10 B Hoover Dam to Pahrump 011

10-31-10 B Hoover Dam to Pahrump 012

And up over the mountain to Pahrump, Nevada.   We are staying at the Escapee Co-op, Pair-A-Dice, for the next month.

Stats for Sunday:

Miles Traveled:  271 miles

Routes Traveled:

Arizona: US-40; US-93

Nevada: US-93; I-515; I-215; I-15; SR-160; Homestead Road; Manse Road; Oakridge Ave.

Last year we put our names on a list for a lot in this park.  However, it was right when our cat, Elliot, was sick then passed away (tomorrow is a year).   During our stay here, I was not exactly in the right frame of mind to get to know the park.  So we have decided to stay here for a month and get to know the park, the people and the area.

There is a beading group here and I stopped in this morning – I will be joining them on Wednesday.  There are also other craft classes, morning coffees (ladies and men’s groups), happy hours, potlucks, dinners, etc.   Also activities at the senior center and VFW/Legion in town.   We have met our neighbors and everyone seems real nice.   So we are looking forward to the next month here.

So stay tuned.

To my RVing friends, if you are in the area, stop by.   We are at site 60A, across from the club house.  If you are in the area, but are not in the park, send me an email or give me a call.
