April 30, 2013 – Travel to Zion

We left the Elks early this morning, stopped at the town dump to dump our black and grey tanks and off we went..

Past Lake Powell – it really is low:

Into Utah!  We actually went into Utah then back to Arizona and then back to Utah again.

Don’t mind the dots on some of the pictures.  I took them thru the windshield where we collected bugs as the trip progressed - Smile

And here we are – the second one from the left – in the trees:

We are staying in Zion South Campground – a first come, first serve campground.  After setting up, we went to the visitor center and checked out the upcoming ranger led programs, got the low down on the shuttle system and checked out the bookstore.

This evening we made supper over the campfire, then took a walk on one of the trails near the campground:

The Virgin River – lots of rock flour – sandstone and rocks from the surrounding mountains:

While you're at Zion you might want to look up a fellow blogger, full-timer, and all-around great guy. Mike Fousie and his dog Blue are camphosts in the South Campground I believe. Here's his website: http://www.lightcurve.com/
If you see him please tell him hi from Keith and Brenda (Bandon volunteers)

We just left Zion. In Colorado now. I think Zion is our favorite National Park so far.

Hi Keith and Brenda,
We met Mike yesterday and passed on the message. Love his blog too. What a small world isn't it. Hugs.
