April 29, 2013 – Just Another Day

Today was the cleaning, laundry, final shopping day.  Even traveling, these chores have to be done. :-(((

This afternoon, we checked a few more places and made a few more plans on what we are doing for the next few weeks.  Who knows, it may change again tomorrow – LOL!

Later afternoon, we joined Happy Hour at the Elks – another great time!

Tomorrow we are heading to Zion National Park so stay tuned and enjoy today.

April 28, 2013 – Upper Antelope Canyon

On April 28, 2007, Andy and I started our adventure to see the USA.  After six years, we still feel blessed every day and in awe of all that surrounds us.  So today, starts our seventh year!

At the Elks last night, we met Lee who was able to get us on the 10:00 AM Upper Antelope Canyon Tour this morning (Overland Tours).  This time slot is considered prime because of the way the sun shines into the canyon and we were not disappointed.

In November of 2011, we visited the Lower Antelope Canyon and were awestruck.  This Upper is more popular because it is shorter and easier to walk thru.

We started out in town, drove to the area, then back a few miles on a very sandy area:

There were only four people on our tour and initially I thought it was going to be very intimate but when we got to the start we saw lots of people – Yikees.  The Upper Antelope Canyon is more popular than the Lower because it is easy to get to and easy to get thru.  In the Lower Canyon, we had to do many steps, some crawling, and it was much tighter.  Our blog from that canyon is here: Lower Antelope

The start of the canyon:

This is going to be an intensive picture blog.  Walking thru this canyon and seeing the way the light plays on the walls is almost spiritual.  No words can describe this beauty.  Enjoy! Smile

We woke to another beautiful day and made our way north on US-191 where we passed some interesting rock formations:

Lots of orange colored sand – the pictures do not do it justice!

A little town where all the houses were either blue or had blue roofs – not sure why:

Lots of free roaming horses and most were beautiful:

We climbed and crossed plateaus where it seemed we could see forever:

At the junction with US-160, we headed west:

The sand was still orange:

We arrived at the Elks Lodge in Page where we will be for a couple of days.  The last time we were here was in November of 2011 but this time we decided to do electric and water.

After setting up, we went for supplies and then Happy Hour at the Lodge – another wonderful, fun time meeting everyone here.

Stay tuned for tomorrow’s adventure.
