February 15-16, 2009 – Cloudy days at the Slabs

We woke to clouds this morning (Saturday) – a front moving in from the Pacific. So we did the laundry (Sarcastic Yea!).

This afternoon, however, was different. Bob took us to the mud volcanoes. In the middle of this mud field, there is mud bubbling up from way below and creating mounds. In one area, there was bubbles coming up thru the water and we could smell petroleum gas. Wait until you see these pictures:

How about that? Thanks, Bob, for the pictures. (I forgot my memory stick for the camera -:-( ).

And this evening was another great campfire with the group. Andy did not join us – he caught my cold.

Sunday – This morning was our trek into Brawley to Wal-Mart and the grocery store. As we came back, the rain started and is still continuing. So we have just been hanging out.

The other night for dinner, Mary made sourdough bread in a Dutch oven and it was wonderful. So today, Bob gave me some of his sourdough starter. So stay tuned – can’t wait to try my hand at cooking the bread!

Tomorrow we are heading to Quartzsite. A few days ago our awning ripped in the wind and we want to see the price of replacing it. Also I want to stop in a few of the bead stores (of course -:-))

Until tomorrow!
